 (Tibetan: "stages of the path") text represents the stages in the complete path to enlightenment as taught by Buddha Shakyamuni, originally composed by Indian pandita Atiśa's 11th Century root text A Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (Bodhipathapradīpa).
Jonang Taranatha, in his “Essence of Ambrosia”, also known as the Jonang Lamrim, composed a simple, pithy and easily accessible model; a “how-to” guide for meditators that represent all of Buddha’s pith instructions on the three main points of the path to enlightenment.
This model is then systematically arranged around “Comtemplation sessions” for the meditator in a gradual development towards experiential realization based on analysis, self-reflection and meditation.
The three main points are renunciation, Bodhicitta and perfect view, beautifully phrased by the great Jamgon Kongtul in his commentary on the Jonang Lamrim as"The gold foundation of renunciation, on which rises the fabulously arranged Mount Meru and continents of Bodhichitta, upon which shines the brilliant sun of the wisdom of the perfect view."
We are honored that Khenpo Rinpoche Dorjee, a noted scholar on this subject; has very kindly offered to teach us this precious and widely influential text which is often used as a foundational teaching for all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Khenpo Rinpoche was also part of the counsel of translation when Willa Baker (Lama Palmo) translated Taranatha’s lamrim into English.
